The temple has a white colored Ganesha idol, which is why the temple is given the name Sweta Vinayakar Temple as sweta in Sanskrit means white. In India each temple has its won legend related to it. Like that this beautiful temple also has a legend which says that the beautiful white idol of Lord Ganesha was formed by Devas out of the foam which was brought forth when the devas were churning the milky ocean in their pursuit of a sacred nectar called Amritam.
Sweta Vinayakar Temple is visited by large number of devotees from all over south. During Ganesha Chaturthi festival the temple is filled by large number of devotees. The festival in the temple is celebrated for ten days in which the temple organize various activities. The morning and the evening pujas in the temple during the festival is must to watch for. People come here to offer puja. Many programs are organized in which the local village people play music and chat Ganesha songs. This festival makes the temple more lively. During this time the temple is visited by devotes from all over the India. The temple has been renovated to give more space so that the devotees can get a better view of the puja. Sweta Vinayakar Temple is beautifully built. The temples is spread on 8 acres and there is a beautiful huge tower at the entrance of the temple making the entrance more beautiful and giving it a heavenly look. In the temple one can find shrines of Subramanyar, Aarumugar, Brihannayaki (Periyanayaki),Herandamuni, Dakshinamurthy, etc. The moment you enter the temple you can find many beautiful sculptures in the temple. There are many inscriptions in the temple walls and pillars which shows that the Raja Raja Cholan had given many endowments in the temple. Not only this Sweta Vinayakar Temple also has 5 mandapams which has beautiful carved pillars. The wonderfully decorated pillars are one of the attractions of the Sweta Vinayakar Temple. So, whenever you visit the village make sure to visit the beautiful Sweta Vinayakar Temple.
