Siddhi Vinayak Temple is one of the abodes of Ganesha. It is located at Prabhadevi,Dadar area of Mumbai in Maharashtra. The temple is originally built on November 19, 1801. it was built by Mr. Laxman Vithu and Mrs. Deubai Patil. The wooden doors of the temple has several images of the eight manifestations of Ganesha. It also has a small hall where the shrine of Siddhi Vinayak is placed. The idol of Ganesha has four arms. The idol is depicted to be holding a lotus, an axe, a garland of beads and modakas. The temple is very famous and many popular politicians and actors visit the temple. Some well known personalities who recently visited the temple includes Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai.
Rockfort Temple is dedicated to Lord Ganesha. It is also known as Uchchi Pillayar koil. The temple has two sections. One part is dedicated to Lord Ganesha and the other section is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple is located in Tiruchirapalli. It is carved out from a huge stone rock. Rockfort Temple has historic importance. It was built by the Nayakas of Madurai.
Karpaka Vinayakar Temple is one of the famous Ganesha Temples. It is located at Pillayarpatti. The place is about 15 km west of Karaikkudi in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. The idol of Ganesha has Tamil origin. The presiding lord of the temple is Desi Vinayaka Pillaiyar or Karpaka Vinayakar. The idol of Ganesha has two arms and a trunk. The trunk is coiled towards his right hand. Another unique feature of this idol is its height. It is a gigantic figure which is about 6 feet in height. The temple was built during the 4th Century. During Ganesh Chaturthi a ten day celebration takes place at the premise of the temple. The festival takes place during the months August and September.
Sweta Vinayakar Temple worships a white colored idol of Ganapati. The temple occupies an area of 8 acres. During Vinayaka Chaturthi, a ten day festival is celebrated at the temple. It is located at Tiruvalanchuzhi near Kumbhakonam in Swamimalai. According to Hindu mythology, the Gods formed this image out of the foam that generated the milky ocean was churned by them. Indra, the king of the Gods had this image in his possession after attaining immortality. He placed the idol at Tiruvalanchuzhi during his penance at Swamimalai. The temple has many popular sculptures which includes images of several celestial figurers.
