Hinduism includes a large number of personalities, or forms as murti or idol. Hindus believe in karma or work. Hence there exists a huge number of Other Hindu Gods and Goddesses beside the primary Gods and Goddesses. Hindu mythology is believed to have thirty three crores of Gods and Goddesses. The belief is that these beings are either aspects of the supreme Brahman, that is, Avatars of the supreme being. They are significantly sinewy humanoid and are known as devas. The nature of belief in regard to each deity differs for different Hindu traditions and philosophies.

Often these beings are depicted in android, or partially humanoid forms. They are complete with a set of unique and complex representation in each case. The list of Other Hindu Gods and Goddesses are pretty long and consists of :
Goddess Durga: Goddess Durga is the mother of the universe and is believed to be the power behind the work of creation, preservation, and destruction of the world. The reference of Durga can be found in scriptures like: Yajur Veda, Taittareya Brahman and Vajasaneyi Samhita.
Kali: the love between the divine mother and her human children is a unique relationship. Kali, or the “Dark Mother” is one such deity with whom devotees share a very loving and intimate bond, despite her fearful appearance. In this relationship, the worshipper becomes a child and Kali assumes the role of the ever-caring mother.
Lakshmi: According to Hindu mythology, Lakshmi is the goddess of wealth and prosperity, both material and spiritual. Goddess Lakshmi symbolizes Good Luck to Hindus. The word “Lakshmi” is derived from the Sanskrit word Laksya, which means 'aim' or 'goal'. Lakshmi is the household goddess of most Hindu families. She is also the favorite of women. Although she is daily worshipped, the month of October is special as Lakshmi's special month. Lakshmi Puja is celebrated on the full moon night of Kojagari Purnima. Lakshmi forms one of the most important of the Other Hindu Gods and Goddesses in hindu mythology. She is also the most popular of the Hindu Goddesses.
Saraswati: Saraswati is regarded as the Goddess of knowledge and learning. She is the representation of wisdom. She represents the free flow of wisdom and consciousness. She is the mother of the Vedas, and her chants are called the “Saraswati Vandana”. Vedic lessons often begin and ends with “Saraswati Vandana”. She is regarded as the sister of Goddesses Lakshmi and both the sisters have a significant position as Other Hindu Gods and Goddesses. The day of Saraswati Puja occurs generally on Vasant Panchami. The festival is celebrated every year on the 5th day of the bright fortnight of the lunar month of Magha.
The other important Gods and Goddesses of Hinduism are the trimurti or the trinity, namely the Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. They are regarded as the creator, preserver and destroyer of the universe respectively. |
